A parolee has gone unlawfully at large in Kelowna, and he may be headed for this area.
The missing convict's name is Aaron Craig Sutherland, 33. He was an inmate at the federal institution at Kent, but was on parole based at a halfway house in Kelowna when he broke his conditions and has not been seen or heard from since. A Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest on Jan. 19 and since then police have determined he may be pointed in the Cariboo's direction.
"Sutherland could be a number of places in B.C. as he has strong connections with associates and family in Quesnel, Prince George and Abbotsford," said Sgt. Ann Morrison of the Kelowna RCMP.
"[He] has a history of assaults, property offenses, fleeing police, drug offenses, dangerous driving, failure to comply offenses and one sexual assault conviction," Morrison said. "He is considered an opportunistic chronic offender with a serious drug addiction."
Sutherland is described as a Caucasian man, 5'7'' tall, weighs 212 pounds, has hazel eyes and brown hair. He has some distinguishing tattoos which include a spider cross on the back of his neck and a vampire on his right hand.
Anyone who has any knowledge of Sutherland's activities or whereabouts, or comes into contact with his, is asked to contact the nearest police office as soon as it is safe to do so (250-561-3300 in Prince George) or anonymously send the tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) or online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
