The B.C. RCMP Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation into a Fort St. James man's disappearance in August after the man's truck was found abandoned.

William Leonard Price, 55, was last seen on Aug. 29, according to a statement issued by police. He was reported missing on Aug. 31 after he didn't show up to work and his employer called his family. When they were unable to find him, they reported him missing to the RCMP.

“We are asking anyone who may have seen William Price, or had knowledge of his activities prior to Aug. 29, 2020 to contact the Fort St. James RCMP," Major Crime Unit Staff Sgt. Todd Wiebe said in a press release. "Even a small bit of information may assist police

investigators to locate William and determine what occurred."

On Sept. 3, RCMP located Price's truck in an isolated area off the Pitka Forest Service Road outside Fort St. James. Police dogs combed the area, but didn't find Price.

After forensic investigators searched the truck, the RCMP now believe that criminality was involved in Price's disappearance.

Price is a white male, five-foot-five, 280 pounds, with hazel eyes, grey scruffy hair and a full grey beard. He has a three-to-four-inch-long scar on his lower back, and in known to wear a gold ring and stud earring in his left ear.

The RCMP is asking anyone with a dash camera or trail camera near Fort St. James to check their footage from Aug. 29-30 showing Price or his truck – a 2002 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, with B.C. license plate number PB2285.

Anyone with information about Price is asked to call Fort St. James RCMP at 250-996-8269. Tips can also be made anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
