What better time to spread joy than at Christmas time in awarding a new house to one lucky person.
That was a mission accomplished this evening (Dec. 24) by the Prince George Hospice Society in announcing Rick Klassen as the winner of the 2020 Dream Home lottery.
The Prince George resident is the new owner of a 3,390 sq-ft rancher-style residence in the Nechako View Subdivision worth $704,000.
It features five bedrooms plus an office, four bathrooms and five brand-new appliances, built by North Nechako Homes.
"You gotta be kidding me?," said Klassen after receiving the congratulatory call from Mayor Lyn Hall and Hospice Executive Director Donna Flood.
The winning ticket number was 7747; those who participated had roughly a one in 11,000 chance to win the Dream Home.
It only took the Prince George Hospice Society 90 days to sell out tickets for the 2020 lottery.
Before the grand finale for the lottery's 10th installment, Tammy McKeown became $150,000 richer tonight after their number was pulled out of the Hospice Society's rolling bin for the second 50/50 jackpot of the campaign.
This comes three months after fellow Prince George resident Lauraine Biech won the first $150,000 draw on Sept. 25.
McKeown's winning ticket was #1204.
In addition to the three big winners, four early-bird prizes were drawn valued at more than $8,400:
- Early bird #1 = Barb Osten and Valerie Sinclair, 50 additional 50/50 jackpot tickets
- Early bird #2 = Dean Martin, $2,400 patio furniture and barbeque set
- Early bird #3 = Arthur Carter, 50 additional 50/50 jackpot tickets
- Early bird #4 = Alice and Dave Payne, $3,550 inflatable boat package
