The Festival of Trees is just a month away.
Now in its 24th year, the extravaganza will run from November 24 to December 3 at the Prince George Civic Centre.
Going with the theme "Merry and Bright", the Civic Centre will be filled with whimsical displays, decorated trees, creative pieces, entertainment, lights and fun-filled activities.
New this year will be the addition of "Little Houses," an area set aside for creative minds to display anything that little creatures, real or imaginary could live in - dolls, butterflies, birds, bats, squirrels and even fairies.
"We are excited to once again to open the doors to a winter wonderland showcasing so many talented individuals' work," Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation CEO Judy Neiser said."We are constantly surprised and impressed with the calibre of trees and displays - it really does make the holiday season come alive."
The Festival is now the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation's largest annual fundraiser, with all proceeds supporting equipment and enhancements to healthcare in the region. And the centrepiece is the gala auction which raised $225,000 last year.
This year's edition will feature a "fund-an-item" opportunity to raise money for tomosynthesis machine for the breast health imaging centre at University Hospital of Northern B.C.
"Breast cancer is something that few of us go through life without being touched by someone who has encountered a scare or positive diagnosis," Neiser said.
"We want to see that the centre here has the most up to date equipment available so that it truly is a one-stop breast health imaging clinic."
Other events are scheduled for the 10 days, beginning with a fashion show on Nov. 24, family day and Santa breakfast on Nov. 26 in conjunction with the civic light up, seniors teas on November 27 and 30 and a Teddy Bear breakfast on December 3.
For businesses looking for a place to hold a Christmas party, dinner and dance events are set for November 25 and December 2.
Last year, more than 630 volunteers gave more than 13,000 hours to hosting the event.
