Mayor examining taxes on provincial level

Each year, city officials have to spread the tax burden between homeowners, businesses, and industry. The calculation is changed from year to year, and it is different from town to town.

Each year, city officials have to spread the tax burden between homeowners, businesses, and industry. The calculation is changed from year to year, and it is different from town to town.

Industries in some towns have said their municipalities have gone too far targeting them for cash. Some have withheld their tax payments and/or started court action against their town.

Prince George Mayor Dan Rogers is working on Prince George's tax distribution numbers along with councillors and city staff, and he has also been named to a committee struck by the B.C. government to study the concerns in other towns.
