Man with firearm arrested after vehicle rollover

A single-vehicle rollover crash took place on Sunday, March 10 just after 7 p.m. at Highway 16 West and Davis Road. Witnesses said a man left the scene with a firearm.

A single-vehicle rollover crash took place on Sunday, March 10 just after 7 p.m. at Highway 16 West and Davis Road.

Prince George RCMP responded.

Witnesses reported a man had left the vehicle and walked away with what appeared to be a firearm in his possession.

“Police officers attended the location and located 29- year-old Prince George resident, Dezmon Owens a short distance away,” Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP, said.

“A firearm was found on Mr. Owens, who was determined to be in breach of several police- and court-imposed conditions. Mr. Owens was arrested and held in-custody until he could appear in court.

Owens faces the following charges in court:

- Operate conveyance while prohibited

- Unauthorized possession of a firearm

- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle

- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to order

- Carrying a concealed weapon

- Fail to comply with probation x3

- Fail to comply with undertaking

Owens will remain in custody until his next court appearance. There were no reported injuries during the incident.

The file remains under investigation.
