Guns and ammunition seized by police during a January 14, 2021 arrest of Thomas Toman and Justus Teasdale.

A final loose end from a gun-related arrest in the parking lot of a Prince George big box store was tied up on Wednesday.

Thomas Joshua Toman, 23, was sentenced to a further 346 days in jail in relation to a January 14, 2021 apprehension.

According to Prince George RCMP, it began when members of the detachment's  street crew unit noticed a rental vehicle that had been reported stolen and followed it to the Walmart at Westgate Shopping Centre where they surrounded the vehicle.

Toman and co-accused Justus Leigh Colin Teasdale, 27, were arrested.

RCMP said they found a loaded 5.56 semi-automatic rifle at the driver’s feet and loaded and sawed-off shotgun under the passenger’s seat.

The magazine for the rifle had the pin drilled out and it was loaded with 23 rounds of ammunition, making it a prohibited item, RCMP also noted.

Police described the two as prolific offenders and said Toman had to be Tasered during the apprehension.

Earlier this month, Teasdale was sentenced to time served and 18 months probation.

Both had remained in custody since their arrests. Toman was also issued a 10-year firearms prohibition.
