A Prince George man has been sentenced to a 20-month conditional sentence for operating a marijuana grow op in a Central Fort George duplex.
Chad Allen Drake was issued the term Monday in provincial court, nearly two years after Prince George RCMP executed a search warrant on a 3900 block Second Avenue home and seized 990 plants and 20 pounds of dried marijuana.
The plants were found in both sides of the duplex. A total of over 40 high-output lights were also found over the entire building, which had resulted in a BC Hydro bill of about $2,600 per month.
As well, a natural gas line had been altered to feed two carbon dioxide generators and mould was found, leading the city to deem the homes uninhabitable, police said at the time.
A conditional sentence is served at home, rather than in jail, and typically includes a restriction on when the convicted person can be off the property.
