A 46-year-old man was taken to hospital with minor injuries after being attacked by a bear while walking his dog at Forests for the World.
The attack happened at approximately 4:15 p.m. in the popular hiking, cycling and jogging trails near UNBC.
Contrary to initial reports, the sow was euthanized but her two cubs were tranquilized at transported to the Northern Lights wildlife rehabilitation centre in Smithers, a Ministry of Environment spokesmand confirmed Wednesday.
The man's dog was located and didn't appear to have suffered any injuries.
Prince George RCMP advised the public to take extra caution while taking part in outdoor activities: pay attention to your surroundings, keep dogs tethered and make noise so that you don't surprise animals like bears.
