A man has been arrested less than a day after allegedly opening fire at a Quesnel home.
No one was injured in the attack, but multiple bullets were shot at an inhabited house at about 4 a.m. Saturday morning. The targeted house was in the 400 block of Hartley Street.
By about 7 p.m. the same day, Quesnel RCMP had a 26-year-old local resident in custody and said more arrests were anticipated. The shooting, according to police, was connected to the Cariboo drug trade.
Following the arrest, they also investigated a separate residence on Sunday.
"[A search warrant] was executed on a Red Bluff Road property which resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cocaine, heroin and two prohibited weapons," said Quesnel RCMP spokeswoman Const. Krista Vrolyk. "[We] would like to remind the public that this shooting was a targeted attack. The people responsible for the shooting were known to the occupants of the residence which was targeted."
The suspect already under arrest has a Wednesday court date on pending charges for discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
