A northern B.C. man was released from custody last week as he waits approval of what police describe as several drug and firearm related charges.
Quesnel RCMP and its Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) a local man, who is believed to have been part of a larger operation in the city since November, was arrested last Wednesday (Dec. 9) after he was seen involved in drug-trafficking activities.
A search warrant was later executed at a home associated with the suspect and Mounties seized the following:
- 123 grams of psilocybin (magic mushrooms)
- 79 grams of cocaine
- 34 grams of heroin/fentanyl
- 22 grams of methamphetamine
- Nearly $7,000 in cash
- 12 gauge shotgun with ammunition
- Taser
- Body armour
RCMP explain the man was released from custody as he faces several charges related to the possession of drugs and firearms.
“Drug trafficking continues to be a priority for the Quesnel RCMP,” says Sgt. Richard Weseen.
“CRU is making a positive impact on the fight against drug and property offenders since their inception in the spring of 2020.”
