Man dies in Pine Pass collision north of Prince George

A Sunday night (May 26) collison turned fatal along Highway 97.

RCMP Traffic Services ‘E’ Division Cpl. Mike Halskov says its believed a man in his late 20s died as a result of a collision near Azouzettea Lake in the Pine Pass after a southbound vehicle side-swiped a northbound semi-truck and hit his vehicle head-on, which was following the semi.

Azouzettea Lake is near Powder King Mountain Resort and nearly 200 km north of downtown Prince George.

Chetwynd RCMP first responded to the incident before 7 p.m. last night and were forced to close the highway for ove eight hours between 8:22 p.m. and 4:44 a.m. this morning (May 27) according to Drive B.C.

The victim is said to be from the central interior.

Peace Region Traffic Services (Fort St. John), the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) and the B.C. Coroners' Service are continuing to investigate this collision.
