A 62-year-old man was killed after being trapped under his ATV near Williams Lake.

On Friday at 1:43 a.m. Williams Lake RCMP were called to the scene of a fatal crash in the 5,000-block of Ridge Road in the Big Lake area. A local man had been out checking the fences on his property, and when he failed to come home his family went looking for him and found the man's body pinned under his ATV.

A statement issued by the RCMP said it appeared the man drove the ATV through a mud hole and the vehicle rolled on top of him, trapping him underneath.

The Williams Lake RCMP and BC Coroners Service is investigating, but the death is not considered suspicious.
