Have a favourite restaurant, autobody shop, massage therapist, or even a local park you think showcases the best of Prince George?

Here's your chance to make your opinion count during the Reader's Choice Awards, which are open for voting until June 16.

Crack open the pages of The Prince George Citizen any day and fill out the extensive ballot or if you prefer to go online, there's a button to click on at www.princegeorgecitizen.com or visit the Prince George Citizen on Facebook to find a link that will take you to the ballot.

After voting is concluded, KPMG will officially tabulate all the votes to come up with the top three in each category.

The Citizen is asking each person only fills out one entry so that it's fair to everyone and gives a true reading of the most popular in each of the almost 140 categories up for bragging rights.

"This is a good opportunity for local businesses to be put on a bit of a pedestal by those who are using their services," said Dave Smith, advertising director at The Prince George Citizen.

The Citizen will publish the winners in a tabloid pullout section of the newspaper sometime in July as a keepsake for residents and tourists alike to see where the locals go to eat, recreate, get their insurance, hike, do yoga, workout or get their hair done, to name a few.

"These things are very popular and Reader's Choice Awards are held in every major city and it has a big impact, not only on the local people but on those visiting, too. If someone picks up one of these publications and they are deciding where to go to eat, they will always want to go to a place that the people of Prince George are endorsing and that's pretty powerful."

The Citizen is hoping for thousands of entries and that's only possible if readers take the time to fill out the ballot. To inspire participation there are a great many prizes to be won just by filling in the form. Items to be won include restaurant gift certificates, three-month yoga passes, Quesnel's airshow Skyfest family weekend passes, Barkerville passes, and three and six month subscriptions to The Prince George Citizen.
