The number of major projects underway in the Prince George area as of September remained unchanged at five from the previous quarter, according to a provincial government inventory released this week.

Projects currently underway are:

- The $28-million Boundary Road connector, a two-lane, 6.6-kilometre road linking Highway 97 South to Highway 16 East to act largely as the transportation route for light industrial development west of the airport. It's due for completion in March 2011.

- The $28-kilometre Stone Creek bridge replacement on Highway 97 in the Stoner-Red Rock area. The bridge is to be replaced with a four-lane structure and 1.5 kilometres of the highway is also to be four-laned with a completion date of June 2011.

- A $24-million expansion of Pacific BioEnergy Corp.'s Prince George wood pellet plant south of the BCR industrial site. It's meant to double the facility's production and is slated for completion in June 2011.

- A $20-million technical education centre at College of New Caledonia which will replace the trades training building. The project will also include renovations to the John A. Brink Centre. The completion date is listed as March 2011.

- A $15 million wood-waste gasification plant at UNBC and upgrade to the campus heating and cooling system. Work was to start in July with a completion date of March 2011.

The projects must cost at least $15 million to make the list.
