A bridge on the Nadleh Whut'en reserve near Fort Fraser was blocked for much of Wednesday after a logging truck went out of control.

The truck went through the rail and wheel guards and broke a railing on an adjacent pedestrian bridge, a B.C. Transportation Ministry spokesperson said Wednesday.

The driver suffered minor injuries and as of late-afternoon the truck and its load were being removed, while a Yellowhead Road and Bridge crew worked on repairs to both bridges, which were expected to be reopened by the evening.

"There are alternate accesses available through public roads so traffic was not stranded during the works [Wednesday]," the spokesperson said. "Efforts to accommodate pedestrian traffic have been ongoing throughout the day allowing people within the community to move back and forth."

The reserve is located about 135 kilometres west of Prince George.
