A Prince George man has been sentenced to 102 days in jail and three years probation on convictions related to a confrontation with police and firefighters near 100 Mile House last summer over an illegal campfire.

Brandt Kenneth Miller, 24, was issued the term Wednesday in Williams Lake provincial court for assault, assaulting a peace officer and possessing weapon for dangerous purpose.

Miller had remained in custody since his arrest July 3.

Miller became abusive when members of the Deka Lake Fire Dept. told him a ban against campfires was in effect and then tried to steal their fire truck, RCMP said at the time.

When members of the 100 Mile House RCMP were called in, police said Miller then grabbed a chainsaw, started it up and then used it in a threatening manner before he was pepper sprayed and arrested.
