From a community kitchen at a medical clinic to tobacco reduction programs to First Nations health initiatives, Northern Health has handed out grants to 45 regional groups through its imagine program.
The grants, worth a combined $125,150, help community groups fund projects to increase access to healthy activities and provide information on how to live a healthy lifestyle.
Twenty four of the grants went to programs with Prince George connections, including four at Positive Living North and three at UNBC. The rest were awarded to groups throughout northern B.C.
“We’re always looking for innovative approaches to encouraging healthier communities,”
Northern Health regional director for public health, population and protection Lucy Beck said in a news release. “Each of our Imagine grant recipients is a partner in improving the health and well-being of people in Northern BC.”
