A Prince George woman received some good "news", this week, scratching a Set for Life 10th anniversary ticket her husband hid inside a newspaper to reveal three 'Cash for Life' prize boxes.

"I sat down with a coffee to read the news and saw this ticket when I opened up the paper," recalls 56-year-old Sheryl Goebel. "I knew it had been put there by my husband, John. I scratched it and then just kept staring at it in disbelief."

The Goebels are ecstatic to have won the game's top prize of $1,000 a week for 25 years, and plan to visit a financial advisor after opting for a $675,000 lump sum payment.

So, why did John, 58, place the un-scratched ticket in a newspaper?

"I'll buy Scratch & Win tickets whenever I've got spare change," he explained. "But I never scratch them myself. Instead, I tend to hide them around the house in places where my wife Sheryl will find them, like under her pillow or inside the newspaper. I had no idea this particular one would turn out to be worth so much!"

The pair's lucky ticket was purchased at Real Canadian Super Store on Ferry Avenue in Prince George.

BC's Set for Life 10th Anniversary instant Scratch & Win game offers players the chance to win a record 10 top prizes of $1,000 a week for 25 years.
