Johnathan Botelho, a local 12-year-old Sacred Heart student, was chosen as one of 11 children in Canada to attend the Olympics as part of a worldwide program called McDonald's Champion Kids, with the program being offered to schools in Canada through the Go Active Fitness Challenge, a partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee to encourage more activity for students of all ages. The winning 11 from Canada get to attend - with a parent, all expenses paid - the Olympic Games for three days, tour the Olympic Village, visit cultural sites around Vancouver and meet Olympic athletes.

The Prince George Citizen has invited Johnathan to offer readers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the Olympic Games through his eyes. Here's what Johnathan had to say :

What another great day. First we went snow shoeing with Carl Lewis, then I tried to race him but I lost.

Then we had lunch at Grouse Mountain, which was good. Then we got welcomed by the Squamish people of Vancouver. After that we went to the Capiliano Bridge, which was very fun. After Capiliano we went to the men's ski aerials. Three Canadians are going through to the final!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we went to the Boathouse. But now it's all over. I had a great time. And I had fun with Ronald McDonald.
