The Prince George Public Library is breaking ground on a long-awaited addition to the downtown landscape.
On Sunday, the library is inviting the community to the Knowledge Garden Party from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. in the Civic Centre Plaza where ground will be broken on the city's newest green space.
When complete, the gated Knowledge Garden will turn an area traditionally problematic for drugs and crime into an outdoor reading and programming space with 330 new plants and shrubs, an amphitheatre and footpaths.
Sunday's gathering and fundraiser will feature food, music, games and family activities from downtown neighbours such as the Two Rivers Art Gallery and 2015 Canada Winter Games.
The official groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 1 p.m.
