The BC government will break their silence over oil pipeline plans.
This morning, Environment Minister Terry Lake and Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Minister Mary Polak will discuss the the BC Liberal's position on heavy oil pipeline proposals.
The 10 a.m. news conference will also feature supporting technical papers and a briefing with officials from the ministries of environment, aboriginal relations and reconciliation, energy and mines and BC's environmental assessment office.
The Liberals are the last major party to draw their line in the sand regarding the controversy over pipeline projects, such as Enbridge's currently under fire Northern Gateway.
BC Conservative leader John Cummins has said he is strongly in support of it if a rigorous environmental review process is in place and affected communities receive financial compensation. Meanwhile NDP head Adrian Dix has been a vocal opponent.
In recent weeks, Premier Christy Clark has spoken out against Enbridge's reaction to an oil spills in Michigan, but wouldn't comment directly on the Northern Gateway plan.
Last week, community hearings in Prince George on the Enbridge project were met with a storm of opposition from registered speakers at the Civic Centre sessions.
