The Law Society of B.C. has banned a former Prince George lawyer from practicing in the province for five years for professional misconduct.
The move comes after Jacqueline Levesque admitted in an agreed statement of facts she paid herself funds on two files on a contingency fee basis when there was no written contingency fee agreement with the client, made unprofessional and rude statements about an adjudicator of Indian Residential School claims, and breached an undertaking by failing to pay money owed to another lawyer in a timely way.
Levesque withdrew from practice in January 2010 and the statement of facts was issued Friday.
