A Prince George man has filed a lawsuit over a broken ankle suffered when he slipped and fell at the Vanway transfer and recycling station.

The City of Prince George, the Fraser-Fort George Regional District and Cascades Recovery Inc. are named as defendants in a notice of civil claim filed in B.C. Supreme Court this week by Gordon Douglas Price.

According to the claim, the property was slippery with snow and ice when, on Feb. 7, Price, a truck driver, had shown up to unload some garbage.

Either no salt or gravel had been applied or not enough was laid down to sufficiently reduce the slipperiness and no visible sign was posted warning visitors of the problem, according to the claim.

Price subsequently fell and broke his right ankle, an injury that required surgery and from which Price continues to suffer pain, according to the claim. Price is suing for lost wages and special damages.

None of the defendants have yet filed a response and the allegations have not yet been tested in court.
