A routine traffic stop on Monday resulted in police seizing large quantities of drugs and an assault-style rifle with a prohibited magazine.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. a frontline RCMP officer stopped a vehicle on Continental Way in the BCR Industrial Site because it didn't have active insurance, a statement issued by the RCMP on Tuesday said.
A search of the vehicle located a large amount of uncut cocaine and cutting agent. The 30-year-old Prince George man driving the vehicle was detained, and police seized the vehicle.
The investigation resulted in RCMP obtaining a search warrant for a home in the 2000-block of Central Street East. At the home, police found a large amount of cash, suspected heroin, drug trafficking paraphernalia and an "assault-style rifle" with a prohibited magazine.
The man was later released pending further investigation and charge approval by the Federal Prosecution Service of Canada.
