Longtime Prince George Crown prosecutor Shannon Keyes has been appointed a provincial court judge, the Ministry of Justice said Thursday.
Keyes will start her new job on Tuesday and will continue to be based in Prince George.
Keyes has been a Crown counsel since 2000 and has been the prosecutor on several high-profile cases over that time.
She was first called to the bar in 1986 after earning her bachelor of laws degree from the University of Victoria in 1985 and worked for a number of law firms before becoming a Crown counsel.
Outside of her law career, Keyes has been a co-owner of an organic farm and co-owner of a property maintenance and renovation business.
She is also an avid cross-country skier, and has volunteered as a coach for the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club and coached the Rocky Mountain Rangers Army Cadets biathlon team.
