An extravaganza of employment is raising its flag over Prince George today.

The BC Jobs Start Here jobs fair campaign comes to the northern capital, connecting companies looking for workers with people looking for new employment opportunities.

"Exhibitors at each fair will include employers from various sectors, post-secondary institutions, and training and health authorities," said a job fair organizer from the provincial government. The fair is one of the practical elements of their Canada Starts Here - BC Jobs Plan.

The fair is being held in 24 communities as part of the overall initiative "to promote economic development and job growth in the province," said the organizer. "The plan builds on the province's solid foundation of prudent fiscal management to attract investment and open new markets for B.C. products and services, and to create jobs for British Columbians."

The event runs from noon to 7 p.m. at the The Coast Inn of the North (770 Brunswick Street).

More than 30 companies and agencies have confirmed their attendance, in a range of industries and sectors.
