Someone in Prince George has lived the thrift store dream - the one where you put your hand in the pocket of a vintage jacket you just bought and find treasure.
A shopper at the local Value Village store purchased a pair of Nike shoes in March. When it came time to slip the previously owned sneakers on, however, something else was along for the walk.
"The new owner of the shoes located a ring in a very distinct bag within the shoes. Also located was a pair of costume earrings," said Cpl. Craig Douglass spokesman for the Prince George RCMP, for that is where the shopper turned with the lucrative find instead of the nearest consignment jeweler.
"It just shows the character of the person who made this purchase, that he or she felt the right thing to do was get these items back to their owner," Douglass said.
To preserve the identifying features of the items, a photo of the found items cannot be shown, but Douglass is certain the rightful owner would have no trouble describing the items.
"They are costume jewelry but they are of high quality," he said of the earrings. "The bag is key to this, as well. It is also very distinct and would help identify these items if the proper owner does come forward with an accurate description."
If you believe these items may be yours, please call the Prince George RCMP Detachment at (250) 561-3300 and ask to speak to Heather. An accurate description of the items will be required in order to claim these lost items.
In the event these items are not claimed, they will go to the finder.
