Jail sentence issued for drug offences

A Prince George man has been sentenced to 13 months less a day in jail following a drug-related raid by police on a city home three weeks ago.

Melvin Earl Robinson, 53, was issued the term in Prince George provincial court on Tuesday for three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Robinson was arrested July 24 at an 1800 block Tamarack Street home where police said they found an assortment of drugs and paraphernalia.

He was also sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail for possession for the purpose of trafficking from a Dec. 7, 2011 incident when police raided a home in the 1700 block of Redwood Street and uncovered crack cocaine and cash.

Robinson was released on a documents to appear in court at a later date on that charge.

On Tuesday, Robinson also received a four-month jail term for two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking for an Aug. 19, 2011 incident and to one month for possession of a controlled substance from a Feb. 3, 2012 incident.
