Fort St. John city councilor and Christian Life School principal Don Irwin announced Thursday that he'll seek the Conservative Party of Canada nomination to be the MP for Prince George-Peace River.
This news comes just a few days after long-time MP Jay Hill announced he won't be running in the next election.
Irwin plans to promote the North and hopes to bring his experience representing the region and fighting for local issues to the federal level.
His three main foci are natural gas utilization via natural gas stations and converting vehicles to run on natural gas, involving more youth in the political process, and building better relationships with municipal governments and constituents.
He also wants to look at improving the highways and keeping taxes down.
Irwin encourages people to contact with with comments, questions, and concerns before, during, and after the MP nomination process. "I value people's input," he said.
