RCMP are investigating a fatal incident in northern B.C. this morning (Feb. 2).

A driver heading northbound on Highway 97 south of Quesnel was pronounced dead on scene after two SUV’s collided with each other around 9:40 a.m.

According to Mounties, the vehicle lost control near French Road, south of the Kersley General Store, when it’s attached trailer began to fishtail.

This caused the SUV to cross the centerline and crash into another SUV heading south.

The driver of the second vehicle suffered serious injuries, to which paramedics had to fly them out of the Quesnel Airport for further medical treatment.

Drive BC says, as of 2:18 p.m. today, Highway 97 has fully reopened after a near five-hour partial closure for investigators.

No other details have been released at this time.
