Two women have suffered injuries after a two-vehicle collision south of Prince George this morning (Feb. 20).

Cpl. Mike Halskov of the Traffic Services RCMP "E" Division says at roughly 10:10 a.m., Prince George RCMP responded to a vehicle incident on Highway 97 near Stoner Pit Road, south of the city.

Once Mounties arrived, it was determined that a southbound pickup with a man inside had crossed the centre line and collided with a northbound sedan.

Police say the two women in the sedan suffered non-life threatening injuries and all occupants in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Halskov adds speed and impairment are not considered factors.

Currently, it is believed black ice caused the driver of the pickup to lose control.

The highway was closed for roughly one hour while an investigation took place and the highway was made safe for travel.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 and quote file number 2019-5694.

RCMP are also reminding the public to drive to road conditions and be prepared for winter travel which includes having good winter tires, an emergency kit, food, clothing and a cell phone.
