Carrier Sekani Tribal Council chief Terry Teegee won another three-year term Friday.
Teegee, in his first bid for re-election, garnered 371 votes, good for 56 per cent of the 662 ballots cast for tribal chief in nine polling stations across the area.
John Erickson trailed Teegee with 128 votes (19 per cent), followed by Martin Louie with 113 votes (17 per cent) and Tim Erickson with 46 votes (seven per cent). Four ballots were rejected.
An electoral official reported turn-out at roughly 13 per cent of 5,000 eligible voters, up from the 550 (11 per cent) votes cast in 2012.
Teegee won his first term over Valerie O'Connal that year, replacing two-term tribal chief David Luggi.
The member nations of the Carrier Sekani include: the Nadleh Whut'en First Nation (Fraser Lake and Fort Fraser), the Nak'azdli First Nation (Fort St. James), the Stellat'en First Nation (Fraser Lake), the Saik'uz First Nation (Vanderhoof), the Takla Lake First Nation (Takla Lake), the Tl'azt'en Nation (Stuart Lake and Tachie), the Ts'il Kaz Koh (Burns Lake), and the Wet'suwet'en First Nation (Burns Lake and Broman Lake).
