Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society is inviting people of all faiths to come and learn from each other as it wraps up a long-term project aimed at religious diversity.
On Oct. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m., IMSS is hosting an Interfaith Festival, where a representatives from a variety of belief groups - including Bahai, Muslim, Maori, Sikh and Hindu - will make short presentations on the tenets of their religions.
Refreshments and information booths on the different faith groups will also be on hand.
Saturday's event at the Second Avenue IMSS building wraps up a more-than year long Embrace B.C. project on interfaith bridging, seeking to "increase awareness for and understanding of social, cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity among British Columbians."
The festival, which is free of charge, is not only looking to foster links from those attending, but also from those involved, said project co-ordinator Riffat Shahnawaz.
"This is an effort to create an understanding and to bring them closer and work together as a team," Shahnawaz said.
"All the religious groups and ethnic groups, they work together as a team and they are creating this event, so it is important."
A simultaneous youth interfaith painting party will also take place on Saturday for young people aged five to 19.
