Prince George residents who rely on wheelchairs, strollers, walkers or canes to get around will find the Railway and Forestry Museum more friendly to access when an ongoing access project is completed.

This week the paving of the park pathways was slated to begin ith a $50,000 grant from the federal Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

Jay Hill, MP for Prince George -Peace River, said, "Our government continues to support people with disabilities and their families. This project, through the Enabling Accessability Fund, will help by improving access to the Railway and Forestry Museum's facilities, activities and services."

The project was enhanced by donations of $5,000 from Nechako Rotary Club and $200 from Husky Energy. The Prince George Community Foundation granted the museum $2,500 to restore the boardwalks and build accessible ramps to onsite heritage and display buildings including the 1914 Penny railway station that was relocated at the museum in 1988.
