Getting to Calgary via Jasper will be out of the question for the next few days.
Starting today at 3 p.m. the Icefields Parkway from Athabasca Falls to Saskatchewan River Crossing will be closed completely to carry out avalanche control, Parks Canada said.
It's expected to be reopened on Thursday afternoon.
In the lead up, there will be delays of up to 90 minutes starting at 11 a.m today as avalanched control work takes place south of the Columbia Icefields and north of Saskatchewan River Crossing
