The spookiest night is approaching and ICBC is telling drivers to take more caution when driving on the roads this Thursday (Oct. 31).
According to ICBC, there were 1,000 crashes resulting in 370 people getting injured in B.C. last year on Halloween.
The southern interior saw an average of 29 people injured from 110 crashes on Halloween, while the north central region sees about 10 people injured from 59 crashes.
For drivers, ICBC recommends:
- Stay below the speed limit
- Have patience and not pass slow or stopped vehicles
- Leave your phone alone
- Watch for children and surrounding area
For trick-or-treaters, ICBC advises:
- Wear something bright and reflective
- Follow road rules, walk on sidewalks and cross at crosswalks
- Don’t drink and drive, plan a safe way home if alcohol is involved
