Hunting with Holmes: Check out these treasures found at Prince George Hospice Resale Shop

Silliness and... a bit naughty
Hunting with Holmes - Sept. 18, 2020 salt and pepper shakers
Not your ordinary salt and pepper shakers. (via Amanda Holmes for Prince George Hospice Resale Shop)

Warning! This week's post is not for the easily offended.

So sometimes we come across really funny, very strange or just downright naughty items while processing our donations.

Some things are just downright funny and that’s a good thing.

We’ve talked about needing more reasons to laugh and the back end of a thrift store offers up many reasons.

One day, I got a text from a friend who shops with us quite frequently asking, “What kind of kids books are we selling?”

She jokingly sent me a text of two children’s books that were beside each other on the shelf.

“Muffin Munchers” and “Busy Beavers” were just hanging out waiting to become some lucky child’s new favourite bedtime story.

While I was chuckling about it to another employee, she mentioned that we also had a book titled “Chicken Lickers.” Another great kids read. Lol!

Speaking of books, our craft section has the “Stitch and Bitch” book, all about being a happy crotchet hooker (Can’t make this stuff up folks).

Let’s move into the kitchen shall we?

One of our newer employees just last week found a salt and pepper set.

Except, this is not just any salt and pepper shaker.

This is a very hilarious, yet inappropriate way, to season your food.

I can’t even pretend to be offended, the little dangly is just too comical to take seriously. I would buy this set for my mother and I know she would use it!

I won’t actually say what it is, you can just check out the photos below.

I’m pretty sure someone set us up for a laugh once when we received a box of pregnancy magazines, along with an open box of condoms in it. Well played sir, well played.

What else?

Oh, we found a couple of live frogs once who hitched a ride from someone’s shed or garage.

Also, before my time they found a bat in a box of donations. And it wasn’t the plastic Halloween decor style of bat either!

And, our store manager came across a mug that advertises to drink up, in a very “back end” type of way.

These are just a few of the humorous, strange and offside things that have come through our doors, that I wanted to share with you.

We do appreciate the chance to take a break and get a laugh (or squeal) in throughout the day.

So, cheers to the donation bags and boxes that hold a little extra surprise for us!

There’s never a dull moment.
