With the HST referendum less than a month away, UNBC will be hosting a debate on the controversial tax.

The debate will take place May 26 at UNBC's Canfor Theater from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Representatives of those in favour and against the tax will be given a chance to make their case.

Members of the UNBC faculty will act as nonpartisan moderators for the debate.

The debate is one of a series of 11 being hosted throughout B.C. from May 24 to June 9. The forums are being funded by the province's $500,000 public dialogue fund.

Those unable to attend the forum can watch it online at www.hstpublicforums.ca and post comments electronically.

The HST referendum will be conducted by a mail-in ballot. Ballots will be mailed out June 13. Voters will have until July 22 to get their ballot back to Elections B.C. by July 22.
