An early-morning house fire caused an estimated $50,000 damage to a duplex in the 200-block of McIntyre Crescent.

At about 2:31 a.m. Wednesday Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a report of the structure fire and arrived to see heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof. Fifteen firefighters from three fire halls were dispatched in five vehicles.

All occupants of the house escaped the house without injuries. The fire was quickly brought under control and most of the damage was to the roof area.

The location of the house is only about kilometre from the fire hall on Fifth Avenue and Ospika Boulevard.

The cause is under investigation.
