Damage is estimated at $180,000 after fire raged through a house in the 2500-block of Ross Crescent late Saturday night.
Prince George Fire Rescue crews from three halls were called to the scene at about 11:06 p.m. Saturday. According to assistant chief Kevin Scobie they targeted the kitchen area with their fire hoses but the extensive smoke and flame coming from the basement prevented firefighters from entering the building and the fire had to fought from outside the house.
One occupant of the house was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. It took crews several hours to bring the fire under control.
The cause is under investigation.
