A 33-year-old woman was taken to hospital with major injuries following a hit and run early Saturday morning on Fifth Avenue near the bypass, Prince George RCMP reported.

A 33-year-old woman was taken to hospital with major injuries following a hit and run early Saturday morning on Fifth Avenue near the bypass, Prince George RCMP reported.

Night staff at the nearby Save On Foods at Spruceland shopping centre found the woman near the site of the now-closed Esso gas station shortly before 2 a.m. and called for help. Police, ambulance and fire rescue personnel responded to the call.

"Witnesses and physical evidence confirm the woman was struck by a vehicle, possibly a small, dark-coloured pickup truck," acting Cpl. Jayson Hansen said in a news release.
