A swift series of police drug interventions led to a sizable drug cache and two suspects local Mounties have been interested in for some time.

Police attempted to pull over a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon, but the driver wouldn't stop. According to police spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass, the motorist fled from police, which brought on a concerted effort to catch him. They quickly did and investigators discovered why he tried to escape.

"Police located and seized a quantity of cash and approximately 8.5 grams of what investigators believe to be heroin," Douglass said. "The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. As a result of this investigation, police were able to identify a residence believed to be used to store illicit drugs. A second male was arrested near the residence."

By the early hours of Wednesday, police obtained a search warrant for the home and went in to test their theories. They were not unfounded.

"Police seized approximately half a kilogram of cocaine, approximately 200 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 42 grams of heroin, and approximately $30,000 in cash," Douglass said.

Multiple charges are now pending against the 21- and 24-year-old suspects whom Douglass described as "two men investigators believe to be high level drug dealers."
