An industrial conglomerate is getting behind a local initiative to establish dedicated helicopter medical response in the area.

The Helicopter Emergency Rescue Operations Society (HEROS) is getting a $20,000 donation from Inland Kenworth and Parker Pacific (Members of The Inland Group) and Tigercat Industries Inc.

Some of the money will also go to the Northland Dodge Motorsports Park, a Prince George auto racing facility that turns its revenues into charitable donations. HEROS is also on its list of recipients.

The announcement was made in conjunction with the Canada North Resources Expo, which opens Friday at CN Centre.

"The Inland Group and Tigercat believe that HEROS is a service that is long overdue for northern B.C.," said a written statement issued by the parties involved. "It would be wonderful to know that our employees, our customers, and their families can go to work or travel the highways and forest service roads of northern B.C. knowing that in the event of an unforeseen accident that they will receive the best available care and attention without delay."

According to their statement, the Inland Group is involved in the heavy-duty truck and industrial equipment market. Its client base is involved mostly with construction, utility, forestry and mining. Several leading brands of light and heavy equipment producers are available through the

Inland Kenworth/Parker Pacific venture.

Tigercat specializes in the design and manufacturing of premium quality forestry equipment and specialized off-road industrial equipment.

These name brands and many more will be available for inspection at the Canada North Resources Expo on Friday and Saturday.
