Only two days away from legalization, cannabis regulations are on the agenda again tonight at the city’s regular council meeting.
Councillors will have a final vote on three cannabis related bylaws that are needed to allow cannabis retail within Prince George after Oct. 17.
Special Beauty Parlor and Day Spa will also be the subject of a public hearing as part of their liquor licence application. The spa wants the ability to serve liquor to complement the spa experience.
City manager Kathleen Stoltz is recommending the city apply for a $15,000 grant for the city to plan and host a seniors' friendly housing information and dialogue session as an opportunity for seniors to learn about current housing options, resources and initiatives.
The city is also recommending it apply for the emergency social services grant application in the amount of $10,000 to host and participate in the seventh annual 2019 Northern Emergency Social Services Training Conference, which would take place in April.
At the start of the meeting, Laurie Dilman from Connect PG will be giving a presentation on the program which provides new residents to Prince George with social connections within the community.
The Prince George Agricultural and Historical Association will also be reviewing the 2018 Northern Exhibition.
This will also be the last regular council meeting before the Oct. 17 legalization date and before the civic election on Oct. 20.
If you can’t attend the 6 p.m. council meeting, you can livestream it from the comfort of your own home, and if you’re too busy to watch it, you can come back and check it out later. The city archives all livestreams.
