If you thought there could be a break from the snow, think again.

Environment Canada is predicting snow tonight (Jan. 7) as well as three other days this week with the white stuff coming from two separate weather systems moving into Prince George.

"We have a pattern across that's going to give us quite a bit of snow from two different systems," said Environment Canada Meteorologist Doug Lundquist in an interview with PrinceGeorgeMatters.

"We already have one that is giving us snow today and we're forecasting anywhere from five to 10 cm with that one today and tonight."

Lundquist says there's a slight break tomorrow (Jan. 8) with clouds in the morning before turning into a mix of sun and cloud.

"There's another one [system] that is going to give us more snow," he said. "It will probably be from the period of Thursday to Saturday. With that one, we could get maybe 15 to 25 cm perhaps."

Lundquist also noted the forecast could obviously change before then, however, the chances are high of another intense storm hitting the area.

Sadly, it doesn't end there.

Once the second system passes, there is nothing behind it, but it isn't going to be warm in the slightest, potentially dropping to below -30 C.

"It will allow the arctic air that's just north to head south across the interior," he added. "So we're going to have Saturday night, Sunday and Monday getting colder again so we might see temperatures dip into the negative thirties."

Lundquist says the cold spell could also spill into later next week.
