A small car crossed the line and into the path of an oncoming semi truck on Highway 16 West near Vanderhoof late Wednesday morning, according to RCMP.
The car's driver was transported to hospital with multiple injuries, believed to be severe, while the driver of the truck, a lowbed tractor trailer unit, was uninjured, RCMP regional traffic services Cpl. Madonna Saunderson said.
Police were called to the scene at McNolty Road at 10:12 a.m. As of early afternoon, the highway remained closed in both directions as investigators collected evidence, but a detour had been established via Bearhead Road and Telegraph Road.
Police are also asking anyone who may have seen the collision, as well as anyone to saw the car, a gold Chevrolet Aveo, prior to the crash to contact the RCMP by calling 250-649-4004.
