The Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) is closing down 141 of its stores operating under the Fields banner.
"This process will be carried out between now and fall 2012," HBC's Fields senior vice president and general manager Michael Waitzer said in a letter to vendors sent out this week.
"As more precise dates are available, we will continue to communicate them to all constituents."
Waitzer called the move a "strategic decision" and added HBC will focus on growing its other banners: The Bay, Lord & Taylor and Home Outfitters.
"Purchases for our spring season will be reduced and adjusted based on the store closing timelines," Waitzer said.
HBC said in December it will be closing down its 26 Fields locations in Ontario.
The company operates one Fields in Prince George, located at 385 Victoria Street.
