A 50-year-old Prince George man faces firearm and drug-related charges after the Prince George RCMP crime reduction team executed a search warrant Wednesday on a home located near Duchess Park secondary school.
Police seized an SKS assault rifle, a sawed off prohibited .22 caliber rifle, a pistol grip shotgun, a .308 rifle, a large amount of ammunition and what appeared to be a crude homemade silencer or suppresser as well as a quantity of heroin from the 1800 block Ninth Avenue home.
"Police believe the seized firearms were destined for the streets of Prince George and were not intended to be used for legal purposes, such as hunting or sport shooting," RCMP Cpl. Kent MacNeill said.
The name of the man facing charges was not released. He was released from custody on a promise to appear in court on Jan. 29.
Two other males were also arrested but not charged.
