A Prince George man has been arrested, after trying to enter the College Heights Pub with a loaded handgun early Saturday morning.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday police were called to the College Heights Pub to break up a fight between two men. The men were taken outside, where the scuffle continued.
Shortly afterward, police received a second call that one of the men was trying to get back into the pub and was brandishing a pistol. A waitress locked the doors, blocking the man from getting inside until police arrived.
According to police, surveillance video from the pub clearly shows an agitated man walking around with a handgun, trying to get into the pub.
When police arrived, the man fled on foot through the bushes -but was caught near the intersection of Domano Boulevard and Trent Drive.
Police located a loaded .45 calibre handgun in the bushed near the scene of the arrest. In addition, a search of the suspect revealed a quantity of cocaine. The gun's magazine and ammunition were reported stolen in a recent break and enter in Prince George.
Dustin Lee Pierini, 31, is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, possession of a restricted weapon, possession of stolen property and causing a disturbance.
In a press release, RCMP Staff Sgt. Tom Bethune said police and the Crown requested Pierini be held in custody, however he was released on bail.
Pierini, who is known to police, is scheduled to appear in court on July 6.
The manager of College Heights Pub had not returned calls as of press time. Staff at the pub declined to comment.
